Up Against a Brick Wall
It's been a rough few weeks here in my four walls. While managing my household and children, keeping my office job, preparing for the holiday, running my blog and trying ever so hard to keep up with my social life – I got sick. Boy, was I run down.
Talk about being up against a brick wall.
Even the eyelids wouldn't budge. Never mind the laptop!
And so we had to wait it out. Rest, relax and get better. But how relaxing is it to lie there thinking about all the things you still have to do? Not relaxing.
Do nothing. Just be sick. Lie there and wait. Wait, wait, wait.
Opposite the brick wall. Staring in its face. You – how dare you stop me from accomplishing?!! I'm so full of energy, I am bursting with ideas. I want to do! I need to do! My family is waiting for me! The food, the laundry, the EVERYTHING!!
And the brick wall, so imposing, so hard, so stubborn – doesn't bend a bit.
Leaning on the brick wall. Feeling its support. Maybe I can nudge my way out of this mess. A wall of encouragement, a wall of warmth, a wall of power, of duty. A wall I can rely on and a wall I can model.
I am a wall. I can rise and shine and be the person I want to be.
