Coonley Playhouse Wall Clock
Posted by Michelle in Wall Decor on October 30th, 2009

O' for color
O' for light
O' for ribbons in the night
O' for courage
O' for power
In your design
I find the hour
Time will tell
If I've done well
Bulova's award-winning Frank Lloyd Wright Collection honors the American genius Frank Lloyd Wright, who is recognized as one of the greatest architects of the twentieth century.
The Bulova Coonley Playhouse Wall Clock is an adaptation of one of the transom windows from the Coonley Playhouse, Riverside, Illinois, 1912.
To enliven the interior of the house, a kindergarten in the suburbs of Chicago for a private client, Frank Lloyd Wright designed stained-glass clerestory windows, which formed a continuous band around the top of the playroom. Each window in the series was composed of a lively combination of simple geometric motifs in bright colors. The windows were inspired by the sights of a parade, and their shapes abstracted from balloons, confetti, and even an American flag.
