Truth and Chatter – When Truths are Shattered

I distinctly remember how I felt when watching the mirage of truth I had created for myself shatter.

It  happened on more than one occasion.

I had worked out certain truths about myself in my mind.  I knew who I was – my status with my peers, family, myself, my beliefs. I had it all worked out. But then, Poof! It all went out the window with one experience. A clear mirror was put up and I realized – Now, wait a minute…. What's going on here? That's not me !!

But, nobody waited even that one minute for me. The reality passed over me while I was going about my daily tasks. Who has time for sit-down contemplation during a busy workday? So, there I was with my truths shattered, trying to glue together my new self-image… until the next time!

Know the feeling?!

Truth and Chatter – Fall Reflections

Sometimes falls are a blessing in disguise. I don't mean the Niagara Falls type. I mean the getting into a funk type. You fall. You feel eeiwy. Ugh. Gross. Down. Below down. And then you get up and turn the page.

So how was that a blessing?

Because you needed the break. Duh.

When you are in that low state – less productive, less sociable, less love-able, just not your usual self – you are experiencing the other side of day. And to grow, one needs Night And Day. The new you stands straighter, tries harder, risks more, and gains new insights about life and relationships. Sometimes we need to crouch low for a while.

Is Fall a good time for that? No saying. The best time for falls are when you trip, or had enough, or got sick. Stuff like that. We don't appreciate them when they happen – but it's not a bad thing, I dare say.

Truth and Chatter / Custom Home Builders

I feel a special affinity for those custom home builders who chug along this not-so-stable economic road and do their best to keep beautifying lives and neighborhoods. With a relative in the building business, I get a close-up view of what integrity means for the general contractor and how important it is. Standing behind one's word when developing a  buyer's dream home is what gains you a good reputation. Forging trust is so important and must be maintained throughout the project.

I am completely in awe of those patient souls who work with homebuyers and lead them through the haze of options. This is where an interior decorator makes life easy/easier/a breeze.

I plan on adding a category which features custom home builders across North America.  Have a recommendation? I'm listening!

Truth and Chatter

There. Once in a while we can expand our walls to include some chatter, with but a smattering of truth. Be it about design, be it about fixtures or fun-ctures. Junctures or Functions. Fixation or fiction. We can expand our walls to include more of the stuff that talks to us. Not just the stuff that talks to them about us.

And for your information, fun-cture is not a word, except if you count this. For me fun-cture is all about fun. How we each define fun is too diverse,  so we won’t go there. But for fun there must be time. Life’s just too stressful without a good laugh.
