Clay Furniture by Maarten Baas

What is clay furniture – you say – something for a dollhouse?

WHITE_UPHOLSTERED baas

Well, that depends on your dimensions.

If you live in a world of dreams,

with a spontaneous love of life,

then yes, it's for your dollhouse.

Where you play pretend

and all is well,

and no one bothers you

to tell

nitty gritty stuff

that irks.

In your home

that you designed,

where life breathes from the walls,

CLAY furniture by Maarten Baas

translates your inner calls.

Maarten Baas, of The Netherlands, has made a statement in the world of art with his unusual and compelling designs for the home. Relying on his intuition, Baas is not content with cookie-cutter, computerized designs. This is clearly evident in his CLAY furniture, where each piece is modeled by hand. Synthetic clay is stretched over a metal frame and surface painted with colored lacquer. Colors in this set include black, brown, blue, red, yellow, orange, green and white.

Baas' works, including the famous Smoke and Hey, Chair…, have taken center stage at exhibitions and museums around the world and are highly sought after. His youthful, personal and present approach keeps him in touch with what "feels right" for his vision and nothing less will do. Maarten Baas is an inspiration for artists and craftsmen worldwide. And he makes great furniture!
